Privacy
Gardenplanner stores only what it needs to suggest garden tasks and send your email. Here is all of it.
What we store
- Your email address, to sign you in and send the weekly email and alerts you choose.
- Your ZIP code and its center point. We never ask for your street address. The optional "Use my location" button sends your approximate position once, only to find the nearest ZIP code; we don't store it.
- Your plants: names, varieties, planting dates, where they are in your garden, and any notes you write.
- Your task history: tasks you marked done, snoozed, or said don't apply, and the optional reasons, plus what you logged under "Log what you saw".
- Your settings: email preferences and appearance.
Where it goes
- Weather comes from the National Weather Service. We request forecasts and observations for your ZIP code's center point, not for you.
- Email is sent through Amazon SES, which handles your email address and the message content to deliver it.
- When you type an answer to a quick question instead of tapping an option, an AI model running in Amazon Bedrock (part of Amazon Web Services) turns it into the same choices the buttons offer. When you describe a problem you noticed on a plant, the same model picks which of our researched common problems fit best; what you read is always our own researched text. It gets only that text, the question or the plant's list of common problems, and your plant list (plant names, varieties, and where they are), not your email address, ZIP code, or other notes. Bedrock doesn't store it or use it to train models. Tapping an option doesn't use AI.
- The service runs on Amazon Web Services.
No ads, no third-party trackers, and we don't sell your data. We don't use open-tracking pixels in email. Links in our emails go through gardenplanner.app so actions like "Mark done" work.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use one sign-in cookie to keep you signed in (for up to 90 days). Before you create an account, the plants you pick are kept only in your browser's local storage. We also store your appearance choice and, while you're offline, the actions you take, so they can sync later.
Your choices
- Download your garden (JSON or CSV) any time from Account → Your data.
- Delete your account from Account → Your data. This deletes your garden, history, and email settings.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change what we send in Account → Email.
